Technical information for employees
Computer
- Hardware will be provided by the head of the department or organisational unit

- request a hostname and IP address; include the appropriate MAC address, your room, and use DHCP to configure your network

- or will take care of the system installation for you (typically we install Ubuntu LTS); subsequent ongoing maintenance is then implicitly your responsibility unless you request it

Windows OS
- in the case of Windows, do not install the operating system yourself: will take care of the installation for you (even if Windows is pre-installed)
- installation of both systems is also possible
- you will automatically have a public IPv4 address on the machine and we will also be happy to assign you an IPv6 address on request
- in case of a reasonable need, the working machine can be operated continuously - it is necessary to arrange with ; see also the Operating Regulations of the premises and its annex Application for permission for continuous operation of computer equipment
Purchase of hardware and accessories
- Consult your department head(s) first about the possibility of purchasing hardware (keyboards, mice, headphones, webcams, etc.)
- preferably choose from the Inet store
- do not buy your own network equipment (switches, routers, Wi-Fi APs)
- also do not plug your own devices into network sockets without consulting , or connect them between sockets (there are often different networks on them)
- in addition, if you are purchasing servers, also consult
