Study information

for participants of lifelong learning at FI MU

Learn about the most basic things you will need to know as a lifelong learner (LLL):

Study Department

Many activities related to your studies can be handled directly in the Information System, but sometimes it may be more convenient to visit the Study Department in person. As a CŽV participant, you will still deal with matters related to your studies with the Faculty CŽV Coordinator, which is similar to the study officers for students enrolled in a regular, full-time course of study.

When communicating by email with the study office, write from your official university email (UČO@mail.muni.cz) to the common address czv@fi.muni.cz to ensure availability in case of illness, etc. When visiting in person, please visit the office of the CJV Coordinator on the 2nd floor of Building A during office hours .

Information system

Almost all administrative matters at our faculty can be handled online via the Masaryk University Information System (IS MU), which is being actively developed at our faculty.

Working with study materials, registering for exams, communicating with teachers - all this and more can be done from any device after logging into the IS. To log into the IS you will use:

  • UČO (University Person Number) - your unique numerical identifier, which you will find after identifying yourself.
  • Primary password - password for the MU IS and other applications using single sign-on, which you will get after you identify yourself (and can be changed later)

This 1.85 MB .pdf tutorial , the help page directly in IS, or the interactive tasks in the IS Academy can help you navigate the IS.

Email

Everyone has an email inbox in IS with an address in the form UČO@mail.muni.cz, which works even after you set up a nickname. You should communicate from this address within the faculty and university, do not use your existing private email addresses for this.

Monitoring university mail is mandatory. You will receive important messages from the faculty administration, the study department, your professors, and the system itself at this address. You can have your mail forwarded to another stable mailbox.

When deleting , ensure that the mailbox does not exceed the available memory quota. You will not be able to send mail to an overflowing mailbox.

Apologies and other actions

During the academic year, you are required to excuse your absence from a required class within 5 business days of the date of the class being excused. You can provide proof of excuse, such as a doctor's report, at a later date.

Unlike full-time students in accredited programmes, excuses should be sent directly to the Faculty CŽV Coordinator by email czv@fi.muni.cz. You do not use the Office application in the IS for excuses.

Study and Examination Regulations & CŽV Regulations

Masaryk University's Study and Examination Regulations (S&E) is a key document that sets out the rules for all types of study programmes. It deals with the organisation of the academic year, the rights and obligations of students and lecturers, the administration of study departments and the maintenance of study records in the MU IS.

Outside the framework of the Lifelong Learning Regulations, the conditions of lifelong learning at the University are specified in the MU Lifelong Learning Regulations.

Technology at FI

Computer labs, faculty login and password, remote connection, Wi-Fi... there is a lot of technology at the faculty. You can learn more about them on the Center for Computing Technology (CVT) website.
