Our involvement at the faculty

Our employees have been serving as instructors at the Faculty of Informatics at Masaryk University for several years. By participating in the teaching of courses, we aim to bring techniques and concepts proven in practice to the academic sphere and help students transition smoothly into the workforce. We believe that collaboration between academia and industry partners at this level is crucial and helps shape high-quality graduates who will have no trouble entering the job market.

• PB007 Software engineering - In this course, we focus primarily on teamwork, which graduates often encounter in practice and which is an indispensable part of every software engineer's or programmer's life. To maintain high-quality software in a corporate environment, code reviews are an essential component, and in the groups led by our employees, great emphasis is placed on this. In addition to practicing UML, students will also take away many useful practices from the seminars that will prepare them for real-world projects.
• PV260 Software Quality - In our NetSuite seminars, we aim to introduce the ideas of Test-Driven Development, refactoring, testing, and proper GIT hygiene. All of this is done through small educational projects worked on in small teams.
• PV168 Seminar in Java Programming - The goal of this course is to develop teamwork skills and give students hands-on experience in developing GUIs in Java. In addition, students will work with asynchronous data processing, JDBC, and the H2 database. The course is very practical and applies experiential learning.

Positions for Students and Recent University Graduates

The Campus Program is primarily aimed at university students. For over two years, we have been offering full-time positions with indefinite contracts to recent university graduates who have completed their Bachelor’s or Master’s degree. These positions are labeled as Fresh Graduate.

Another option within the Campus program is paid part-time positions for university students, which can also be used to fulfill mandatory internships required by their study programs. Last but not least, there is also the opportunity to write a bachelor's or master's thesis.

Campus trainee programme

In addition to the aforementioned Campus Program, we also organize an annual Trainee Program, which serves as a talent incubator for part of the organization. The main difference is the focus on gaining a broad perspective and acquiring work experience in multiple teams, without the candidate having to commit to a specific domain right away. The program starts with a group onboarding, but throughout the year, each participant will work in at least two different teams, build relationships with many colleagues, and together, we will identify the domain where they could contribute after the program ends. These unique experiences provide juniors with a valuable boost to kickstart their career at Oracle NetSuite.

As part of this program, newcomers receive full support from senior team members to help them integrate into the team as quickly as possible. During my first year, I gained insight into software development processes that are very difficult to simulate at school. At our Open Day, which we organize every year!
It’s an informal event where you can meet representatives from various teams, not just developers.
Expect an enjoyable day filled with interesting topics, great conversations, and of course, some tasty refreshments.

The Summer Camp organized directly at Oracle NetSuite is an excellent opportunity for university students to gain valuable experience. We organize this event every year and select participants from the applicants based on several criteria. A small group of participants (8 to 10 students) then has the opportunity to spend a week at our company and work on a project using agile software development practices, alongside assigned mentors. Our main goal is for participants to learn as much as possible, so the work is interspersed with short lectures on topics like software testing, how to conduct proper code reviews, and how to approach code refactoring. The entire intensive week concludes with the opportunity to present the progress of the project to company employees and receive feedback.
We announce the collection of applications for this event every spring, and the Summer Camp itself takes place during the week at the end of August and the beginning of September.

"The atmosphere that was created there was truly special — friendly and collaborative, making it easier to tackle the tasks needed to deploy the features we had developed. On top of that, we got the chance to try out various roles within an IT team, including ones that students don’t usually get access to, such as QA or Scrum Master. I believe that for those who haven’t had much team experience yet, it was a valuable opportunity that they’ll be able to draw on in the future."
