How can a vanished village be brought back to life using modern technology?
Bc. Šárka Portešová, a talented student in the master’s program of Visual Informatics at the Faculty of Informatics, decided to reconstruct the village of Štolnava, which has disappeared from maps forever. She harnessed augmented reality (AR) for this purpose and won several awards for her project. You can read the full interview in the FI MU Alumni Gallery.

XAI Winter School 2025 Successfully Connected Brno and Graz
From January 6 to 10, 2025, the Masaryk Memorial Cancer Institute and the Faculty of Informatics at Masaryk University in Brno, in collaboration with the Medical University of Graz, hosted the Winter School focused on using Artificial Intelligence (AI) in digital pathology. Following the success of the Summer School in September 2024, this event attracted 26 participants, far exceeding the organizers' expectations and highlighting the growing importance of AI in medicine.

Jan Křetínský: Laureate of the Neuron Award 2024 for promising young scientists
Since 2009, the Neuron Foundation has supported Czech science and honored exceptional scientists whose work contributes to advancing knowledge and improving societal well-being. The Neuron Awards are presented annually across seven scientific fields: biology, physics, chemistry, mathematics, social sciences, medicine, and computer science. In the 2024 edition, Professor Jan Křetínský (FI MU) was among the awardees—congratulations!
