25th Film Festival of the Faculty of Informatics of Masaryk University - Break it!
This year's 25th Film Festival of the Faculty of Informatics of Masaryk University (FFFI MU) will be accompanied by the slogan "Beat it!". Sometimes it is necessary to break something to create something new.
To break down boundaries, shatter established patterns, or simply let emotions explode. The films we bring you this year break expectations, break conventions and maybe even your ideas of what a short film can offer. Get ready for action, chaos and deep thoughts - and most importantly, a great cinematic ride!
The festival will take place on 13 May 2025 at Cinema City Velký Špalíček (Dominikánská 5, Brno) and also at the Faculty of Informatics of Masaryk University (Botanická 68A, 602 00 Brno-Královo Pole-Ponava) under the auspices of the Dean of the Faculty of Informatics, Prof. Jiří Barnat. The twenty-fifth edition promises not only student short films, but also a captivating atmosphere, moderator inputs and great facilities that are inherent to the FFFI MU. Come and break the boundaries of the film experience with us!
ABOUT THE FILM FESTIVAL
If we take a brief look at the history of FFFI MU, it has come a long way since the original audiovisual project "All Five Together," which was created to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the faculty (1999). In the beginning, those interested in student multimedia production from the turn of the millennium, despite the great enthusiasm of the students at the time, did not have the necessary technology and mentoring guidance. Hence, the university course Multimedia Electronic Publications was created. This subsequently evolved into the current courses FI:PV110 Fundamentals of Film Speech, FI:PV113 Production of Audiovisual Works and FI:PV174 Laboratory of Electronic and Multimedia Applications, which students across Masaryk University can enrol in. Over the course of two semesters, students can create their own short film works under professional guidance. Whether they are attracted by script writing, camera work, production, editing or post-production or festival organization. The first ever Film Festival was introduced by the Faculty of Informatics in 2001.
