Nikola Beneš from FI MU is an outstanding teacher
Outstanding teachers and personalities associated with the University were honoured at the opening of the 2024/2025 academic year. Representatives of our faculty were among them.
RNDr. Nikola Beneš, Ph.D. from the FI MU Department of Computer Systems and Communications has received the prestigious Rector's Award for Outstanding Teachers. It highlights his long-term efforts for quality and innovative teaching.
The MU Rector's Award for Outstanding Teachers is awarded annually in three categories. In the field of natural sciences and medicine this year the award went to Barbora Hutňan Chattová, lecturer at the Institute of Botany and Zoology of the Faculty of Science of MU, in the field of social sciences and humanities the award went to Lubomír Kopeček from the Department of Political Science of the Faculty of Social Studies of MU. In the field of economics and computer science, the choice this year fell on Nikola Beneš, mainly owing to his way of teaching in the courses Programming in C++, Fundamentals of Programming and On the Origin of Autonomous Agents.
MU students themselves play a key role in the nominations. What attracted them to Dr. Benes' teaching style? They especially appreciate the interaction and his efforts to enrich the teaching with practical examples. The appropriate interconnection of the material discussed with other subjects helps them to understand the topics better. They also welcome his sense of humour and fairness.
"My main motivation is to see the purpose of my work. The best reward is knowing that we are succeeding in educating quality professionals who will use the skills they have acquired through teaching in practice," said Dr. Beneš in response to the recognition.
The ceremony took place on 9 October 2024 to mark the opening of the academic year 2024/2025. In addition to the Rector's Awards, there was also the presentation of MU silver medals, which was also awarded to one of the FI MU graduates, RNDr. Ondřej Krajíček, and the announcement of the university wine.
