Flexibility of study

The ECTS credit system at Masaryk University provides considerable freedom in the choice of subjects and the course of study. Unlike other IT schools, you can enrol in courses from any of the other nine faculties of MU and, in addition to the necessary IT knowledge, expand your skills by studying languages or sports activities, for example.

At our faculty, students make their own timetable through the MU Information System. First, they register the courses they are interested in, according to which the faculty schedules the teaching and ensures the capacity of the courses. Then they register for the courses, and this choice can be changed two weeks after the beginning of the semester. Some courses have practical exercises or seminars. In such courses, students can choose the group that best suits their time availability, and this choice can be changed again two weeks after the start of the semester.

Compulsory and elective courses in our program are not forced into any particular semester, they just need to be successfully completed sometime before the end of the term. This opens up further possibilities for customizing your study schedule. If you do not want to take advantage of this option, you will find a so-called recommended course of study in the study catalogue, which plans all courses so that you can complete your studies properly within the standard study period (for a B.Sc. 3 years).
