The ECTS credit system at Masaryk University provides considerable freedom in the choice of courses and the progression of studies. Unlike other computer science schools , you can enrol in courses from any of the other nine faculties at FI MU and, in addition to the necessary IT knowledge, expand your skills by studying languages or sports activities, for example.

At the Faculty of Informatics of MU , students make their own timetable via the Masaryk University Information System (IS MU). First, they register the courses they are interested in, according to which the faculty schedules the classes and ensures the capacity of the courses. Then they register for the courses, and this choice can be changed two weeks after the beginning of the semester. Some courses have practically oriented seminars. In such courses, learners can choose the seminar group that best suits their time availability and other preferences. This choice can be changed again two weeks after the start of the semester.

At FI MU, compulsory and elective courses are not forced to be prescribed to a specific semester, they just need to be successfully completed sometime before the end of the study. This opens up further possibilities to adjust your own timetable and the plan of the entire study. If you do not want to use this option, you will find the so-called recommended course of study in the study catalogue, which plans all courses so that you can properly complete your studies within the standard study period (3 years for the Bachelor's degree).
