Waiver of the entrance examination

Applicants who have successfully completed a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field of study, or who are students in the final year of a bachelor's degree programme in computer science or a related field of study, may apply for a waiver of the entrance examination for the follow-up master's degree. At the same time, the applicant must have a study average for the entire duration of the Bachelor's degree of no more than 2.00 (according to the classification scale corresponding to the ECTS principles also used at MU; in the case of a different classification scale at the school, it is necessary to contact the study department of the Faculty of Informatics of MU) or must belong to the fiftieth percentile in his/her study programme. Applicants who have successfully completed a Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or who are in the final year of a Master's degree programme in Computer Science or a related field, may also apply for a waiver of the entrance examination for a follow-up Master's degree (in this case, there are no requirements for a grade point average). The relatedness of the field of study will be assessed at the time of application.

The possibility of waiving the entrance examination does not apply to applicants who have already been enrolled for further studies at FIMU and does not apply to the Digital Linguistics programme.

The applicant for a waiver of the examination must complete a written application and submit it by the application deadline according to the instructions on the application form.

1. To apply for a waiver of the entrance examination on the basis of a bachelor's degree, the applicant must attach to the application a transcript of the courses taken in the bachelor's degree, together with the average grade achieved, issued by the relevant university (the percentile achieved may also be provided). If the applicant has already completed a bachelor's degree, the transcript must be issued after completion of the degree. If the applicant is a final year student of the relevant course, the transcript must be issued no earlier than 3 months before the date of the entrance examination.
2. For a waiver of the entrance examination on the basis of a master's degree, the applicant must enclose with his/her application a transcript of the courses taken at both the master's and bachelor's level issued by the relevant university (or school). The transcript must be issued after the completion of the Bachelor's degree. If the applicant has already completed a master's degree, the transcript must be issued after completion of the master's degree. If the applicant is in the final year of the relevant master's degree, the transcript must be issued no earlier than 3 months before the date of the entrance examination. In this case, admission is conditional on completion of the relevant master's degree, including passing the final state examination, as evidenced by an officially certified copy of the diploma.

In both cases, the course transcripts must be documented in Czech, Slovak or English, or in other languages in consultation with the Department of International Affairs. If the applicant has completed or is studying a degree programme at the Faculty of Informatics of MU, a transcript of courses is not required. Requested and unsolicited materials are not returned.

Please complete the application form for waiver of the entrance exam in the e-application form and submit it there together with the transcript of completed courses from the Bachelor's degree programme.

A candidate who is studying in the Bachelor's degree programme at the Faculty of Informatics of MU and meets the criteria for applying for a waiver of the entrance exam does not submit an application. The waiver of the entrance exam will be evaluated automatically on the basis of a duly submitted application for studies on 14 May 2026 at 0:30 (GMT 2+) for studies starting from the autumn semester 2026.
