The first element of an HTML 3.2 document.

<HTML>...< /HTML>
Encloses the entire HTML document.

<HEAD>...< /HEAD>
Encloses the head of the HTML document. Information within it describes properties of the document such as the title, the document toolbar, and additional meta-information. The following tags are allowed within the <HEAD> element:

<TITLE>...< /TITLE>
Specifies The title of the document. Used as the browser window caption and as a bookmark title.
<BASE href="http://host_name/file_name">
Specifies the base URL of the document. Used when resolving relative URLs in the document and for recording the URL of the document itself in situations in which the document may be read out of context. For example, with the <BASE href="http://www.some_host.com/index.html"> the image referred to within the body of the document as <IMG SRC="images/smiley.gif"> will be resolved to <BASE href="http://www.some_host.com/images/smiley.gif">.
<BASE href="http://host_name/file_name" TARGET="...">
Specifies the base URL and the base target frame that all links will open in.
<META attribute1="..." attribute2="...">
The META element is used within the <HEAD> element to specify document meta-information not defined by other HTML elements. Such information can be extracted by servers/clients for use in identifying, indexing and cataloging specialized document meta-information.
1. NAME="..."--Specifies a property such as author, publication date etc. If absent, the name can be assumed to be the same as the value of HTTP-EQUIV.
2. CONTENT="..."--Specifies a value for a named property.
3. HTTP-EQUIV="..."--Specifies an element binding to an HTTP response header.
- <META HTTP-EQUIV="REFRESH" CONTENT=N>
  Reloads your page every N seconds. (N1.1)
- <META HTTP-EQUIV="REFRESH" CONTENT="N; URL=http://host_name/file_name.html">
  Loads a page with the specified URL in place of the existing one. (N1.1)
- <META HTTP-EQUIV="Expires" CONTENT="Tue, 03 Dec 1996 13:11:00 GMT">
  Specifies an expiration date for the page so that the page is reloaded after it. This can be used by caches to decide when to fetch a fresh copy of the document.
- <META HTTP-EQUIV="Keywords" CONTENT="keyword1, keyword2, ...">
  Specifies the keywords describing your page.
- <META HTTP-EQUIV="Description" CONTENT="Description">
  Specifies a textual description of your page.
<LINK attribute="..." HREF="...">
The LINK element indicates a relationship between the existing document and other documents and resources. A document may have any number of LINK elements. The LINK element is empty (doesn't have a closing tag), but takes the same attributes as the anchor element. At this point this element is not widely supported (although it has been around for quite a while), but in the future browsers will use it to define a toolbar of navigation buttons or a list of menu items.
1. REL="..."--Specifies the relationship of the link from the existing document to the resource specified by the HREF attribute. Possible values are: "home", "top" (top document in the hierarchy), "toc" (table of contents), "index", "glossary", "copyright", "bookmark", "up", "next", "previous", "help", "search". (NWI)
2. REV="..."--Specifies a reverse relationship from the document to the link. A link from document Y to document Z with REV=some_relation expresses the same relationship as a link from B to A with REL=some_relation. Possible values are: "made" (used to identify the author of the document, either through his/her e-mail address or through the homepage URL) plus all the ones available for REL. (NWI)
3. HREF="..."--Specifies the address of the link.
4. TITLE="..."--Specifies a title for the linked resource.(NWI)
<ISINDEX attribute="...">
Indicates the presence of a keyword-searchable index. The server must have a search engine to allow the operation specified by this tag; otherwise the tag won't work. When the document is queried with a keyword search, the search string is sent to the server by adding a question mark to the end of the document address, followed by a list of keywords separated by plus signs (i.e. for the document at "http:// host_name/file_name.html" queried with "html reference guide" the search string would be "http://host_name/?html+reference+guide".)
1. ACTION="..."--Specifies the URL for processing queries to which the search string should be passed. This should be a location of the corresponding CGI program.
2. PROMPT="..."--Specifies the prompt in the text box (if not specified, the default prompt will be the one supplied by the browser.)

<BODY attribute1="..." attribute2="...">...< /BODY>
Encloses the main body of the document.

Attributes:

TEXT="..."--Specifies the color of the text in the page. Can be overriden by local <FONT> tags. If not specified, the browser default (black) is used.
LINK="..."--Specifies the color of the links in the page. The default is usually blue.
ALINK="..."--Specifies the color of the activated links in the page (hyperlinks color at the moment the user clicks on the link.). The default is usually purple.
VLINK="..."--Specifies the color of the visited links in the page. The default is usually purple.
BGCOLOR="..."--Specifies the background color. The default is usually gray.
BACKGROUND="..."--Specifies an image used for the document background.
BGPROPERTIES=FIXED--Fixes the background image so that it doesn't scroll. (IE)
LEFTMARGIN="n"--Specifies the left margin for the entire page. (IE)
TOPMARGIN="n"--Specifies the top margin for the entire page. (IE)

<BASEFONT attribute="...">
Sets the default font properties for the entire page. (N1.0)

Attributes:

SIZE="..."--Sets the size of the font to any number between 1 and 7. Size 3 is the default. The sizes can also be specified as relative ones, like SIZE=+2 .
COLOR="..."--Sets font color for the page.
NAME="..."--Sets the typeface of the font.
