This research bears on relation between text coherence and cognitive interest on reading texts for comprehension. Results show that reading times of target sentences situated in the end of a story were significantly longer when their meaning was inconsistent with the earlier description of the main character of this story. Moreover the interest scores of these target inconsistent sentences are also higher than those of consistent ones. Nevertheles the inconsistent information is not better recognized than consistent information. Future research must analyse different types of inconsistency on different conditions of information recovery.
