Software Architectures and Enterprise Systems

Research team in this area is constituted mainly from the Lasaris lab and focuses primarily on the following topics:
  • Software engineering in particular support to software development practices (e.g. agile methodologies), quality concerns in software development and empirical methods with the application of data-mining and machine learning to automate and improve processes;
  • Software architecture modeling, software reliability, accountability, software service construction and provision;
  • Enterprise systems from requirement analysis through design, architectures, software development to deployment and maintenance – object-oriented analysis and design, modern and agile methods of software development with appropriate tooling, business process modeling and management including processes in crisis management and public administration;
  • Smart Infrastructures & Smart Cities to provide analysis and simulations to increase the level of “smartness” and to support the design and development taking into account qualitative concerns (reliability, privacy, security) for smart metering, smart grids and other applications;
  • Critical information infrastructure security and reliability Complex Event Processing (CEP) as a concept and technology suites for enterprise systems with massive data flow processing requirements, specifically in security-related netflow monitoring, computer infrastructure maintenance, surveillance and fraud-detection systems;
  • User interfaces and interactions for exploratory visual data analytics, semantic knowledge modeling, web-based collaboration techniques, eg. for security-related applications;
  • Mobile applications particularly as front-ends to enterprise systems, focused on all mainstream platforms such as Android, iOS, and Windows Mobile;
  • Person-Centered Approach in communication, teamwork, leadership and management;
