Business Unit Overview:
This position is part of Novanta’s World of Medicine (WOM) business unit. Specialized in the field of Minimally Invasive Medicine, WOM develops devices and accessories so that doctors can operate with small cuts. We produce Cameras, Insufflators, Medical Pumps, and tubing that makes diagnosis and treatment easier for everyone. Our insufflators and pump systems dilate cavities in the body and turn previously complicated surgeries into minor procedures. Together with customers, doctors, and technical experts, our teams continuously search for new ways to innovate.
Position Details:
Summary
The Software Engineer will cooperate with team members, Software architects, Test and Verification team on the successful delivery of high-quality designs. The selected candidate will deal with design and development of a medical-grade Software compliant with medical standards per internal development process. Furthermore, the Software Engineer will focus on maintainability, scalability, and testability of the software modules and work on improvements of personal as well as team ability to estimate the effort and execute.
Primary Responsibilities
- Requirements analysis.
- Growing design blocks ownership responsibility based on the seniority progression.
- Planning and execution of design and code reviews.
- Participate in the identification and assimilation of the best practices in the area of software development.
- Application of defensive programing principles, continuous integration.
- Implementation of software modules.
- Creating the necessary documentation.
- Cooperation in prototype construction and test.
- Implementation of technical changes in series of products/product maintenance.
General Tasks
- Strict compliance with the quality, occupational safety and environmental regulations.
- Implementation of the instructions of the quality / environmental management representative and the occupational safety specialist.
Required Experience, Education, Skills, Training and Competencies
- Knowledge in system development and software design.
- Strong understanding of Object-oriented Paradigm, design patterns
- Experience with embedded software or desktop application development (functional as well as object-oriented) and relevant programming languages (e.g. C, C++,C# or other).
- Proficient use of software development tools and Microsoft Office.
- Desirable: knowledge in the fields of electrical engineering and communication protocols.
- Knowledge of Linux operating system is a plus
- Self- motivated person
- Good written and spoken English knowledge
