    NATO C-uas Data Challenge

    Counter-Unmanned Aircraft Systems (C-UAS) Data Challenge invites participants from universities, research institutions and industry across the Alliance to develop an innovative AI-based solution for multi-sensor data fusion in the C-UAS domain to improve drone tracking, classification and threat detection.

    The Data Challenge builds directly on experience and data collected over recent years via extensive experimentation and testing in the C-UAS domain, including large-scale NATO Technical Interoperability Exercises (TIEs) and targeted trials.  Participants will be provided with curated and anonymised datasets derived from these NATO exercises.

    The objective of the C-UAS Data Challenge is to identify and evaluate innovative technologies capable of fusing data from multiple sensor types. The outcome should be a single, coherent recognised air picture suitable for operational use.

    Participants are expected to develop an AI-enabled solution that can:

    • Eliminate duplicate tracks reported by multiple sensors;
    • Fuse kinematic and attribute data to improve track quality;
    • Classify detected objects (e.g. drone, bird, specific drone type);
    • Identify tracks as friendly, hostile, or unknown.

    📌The total prize fund is €100,000 and will be distributed across 1st (€45,000), 2nd (€35,000) and 3rd (€20,000). Winners of the challenge will be announced on 26 February 2027.

    Participants can apply individually or as a team.
    Once registered, eligible participants will receive access to an information hub with additional details on the challenge, including detailed problem statements, datasets, evaluation criteria, timelines and submission instructions.

    📅Deadline to register to the Data Challenge: 14 December 2026.

    📅 Deadline to submit proposals: 21 December 2026.
