    TA CR - Théta 2 - 4th Public Competition

The Technology Agency of the Czech Republic (TA CR) announces the preparation of the 4th Public Competition under the Programme for the Support of Applied Research and Innovation – THÉTA 2.

    Objective of the Competition

The THÉTA 2 Public Competition is aimed at fulfilling the vision of transforming and modernising the energy sector in line with approved strategic policy documents. This objective will be achieved through support for research, development, and innovation projects in the field of energy that focus on improving public administration governance of the energy sector, developing new technologies and system components with high potential for rapid practical deployment, and advancing long-term technological prospects.

    Structure of the Competition

    • Subprogramme 1 (SP1) - SP1 focuses on topics reflecting the fundamental and interconnected trends shaping the energy sector: decarbonisation, decentralisation, digitalisation, and democratisation, viewed from the perspective of public interest. It also emphasises interdisciplinary technical areas, particularly the interactions and links between the energy sector and other sectors.
    • Subprogramme 2 (SP2) - SP2 is aimed at the development of technologies and solutions with rapid practical application potential. Supported technologies and technological solutions should contribute to achieving the Czech Republic’s climate, energy, and environmental objectives, particularly in the short and medium term. Funding will be concentrated on both emerging and traditional areas where Czech research and development is already at the European or global level, or where it can significantly leverage existing competitive advantages.
    • Subprogramme 3 (SP3) - SP3 supports projects developing technologies and solutions that are currently at a lower level of technological readiness (TRL, typically levels 3–5) at the time of proposal submission, and for which immediate practical application of results is not primarily expected.
