    NATO Science for Piece and Security - Multi-year projects - open call

    NATO Science for Peace and Security (SPS) has launched a new call for Multi-Year Projects, where it is possible to apply for projects with support of up to €400,000. The NATO SPS Programme strengthens civil science and technologies related to security to address emerging security challenges and their impact on international security.

    Multi-Year Projects are research and development projects that enable scientists from NATO and its partner countries to collaborate on applied research and development projects and capacity-building efforts, leading to new advancements in civil science with practical applications in security and defense.

    The budget covers scientific equipment (investments), scholarships for early-career researchers, co-financing of personnel costs for participating staff, travel expenses, training, and consumables.

    Applicants are invited to  a short-form proposal (5 pages) together with an administrative form. Successful applicants will be invited to participate in phase 2 of the application process.

    Topics of particular interest for this call include Artificial Intelligence, Autonomy and Biotechnologies.

    The project proposal is submitted via NATO Grant Platform.

    Budget: €250,000 - €400,000, with 100 % financial coverage.

    Two-round call, first-round deadline: January 31, 2026, 23:59 CET.

    📅 Duration: 24 - 36 months.
    📅 Internal deadline: 27. 1. 2026.

    📌 Key eligibility criteria: Institutional collaboration – at least one partner in a NATO partner country (Austria, Japan, etc.) and addressing at least one of NATO's key priorities (Cyber Defense, Defense against Hybrid Threats, Human and Social Aspects of Security, etc.).
