TA ČR – Programme Théta 2– 3rd public call for proposals
Technology Agency of the Czech Republic is preparing the 3rd Call for Proposals under the Applied Research and Innovation Support Programme – THÉTA 2
Announcement date of the public call: August 27, 2025
Proposal submission period: August 28, 2025 – October 15, 2025
Objective of the Call:
The public call under the THÉTA 2 Programme focuses on fulfilling the vision of transforming and modernizing the energy sector in line with approved strategic documents. This objective will be achieved by supporting research, development, and innovation projects in the field of energy, specifically those aimed at improving governance in the energy sector by public administration, developing new technologies and systemic elements with a high potential for rapid implementation in practice, as well as long-term technological perspectives.
TA ČR is launching the third public call under three sub-programmes:
- Sub-programme 1 (SP1) – Research in the Public Interest
- Sub-programme 2 (SP2) – Energy Technologies for Competitiveness
- Sub-programme 3 (SP3) – Technologies for Ensuring the Long-Term Sustainability of Energy
- SP1 – This sub-programme focuses on topics reflecting the key and interconnected trends in the energy sector—decarbonisation, decentralisation, digitalisation, and democratisation—from the perspective of public interest. Emphasis will also be placed on interdisciplinary technical areas, i.e., the interaction and integration of energy with other sectors.
- SP2 – This sub-programme is aimed at the development of technologies and solutions with high potential for rapid application in practice. Supported technologies and technological solutions should contribute to meeting the Czech Republic's climate-energy and environmental goals, particularly in the short- and medium-term. The support will focus on both new and traditional areas in which Czech research and development is already at the European or global level, or has the potential to leverage significant competitive advantages.
- SP3 – This sub-programme supports projects focused on developing technologies and solutions that, at the time of proposal submission, are at a lower Technology Readiness Level (TRL, typically 3 to 5), and for which rapid practical application is not primarily expected.
