Cybersecurity Competition Summer School at FI MU: Top Students Competed for a Place on the National Team
On 24 June 2026, the Cybersecurity Competition Summer School took place at the Faculty of Informatics, Masaryk University.
The event was intended for finalists of the Czech National Cybersecurity Competition and served as preparation for the European Cyber Security Challenge (ECSC) 2026, which will be held this October in Bochum, Germany (https://ecsc.eu/). Participants also competed for a place on the Czech national team, which will represent the country at the European finals.
The programme took place over the course of a week at several locations across Brno, including the Faculty of Informatics at Masaryk University, the University of Defence, Brno University of Technology, and the Headquarters of the Czech Armed Forces' Information and Cyber Forces.
The Summer School brought together students who qualified based on their results in this year's Czech National Cybersecurity Competition. During the professional programme, they tackled cybersecurity challenges and tested their skills against other top competitors from across the country. In the afternoon, teams competed in the Attack & Defense format, simultaneously launching attacks on their opponents' systems while defending their own infrastructure against incoming attacks.
Among the participants were also high school students Pavel and Jakub, who first learned about the Cybersecurity Competition through their classmates and friends. They advanced to this year's finals and competed for a place on the Czech national team.
Richard Marcinčák, a student at the Faculty of Informatics, Masaryk University, and a member of the Slovak Cyber Team, also attended the Summer School. The event formed part of his preparation for the European Cyber Security Challenge (ECSC) 2026, where he will represent Slovakia.
