FI MU students have a lot to offer. The Day with Partners highlighted the strength of the faculty’s collaboration with industry
On Thursday 14 May 2026 the Faculty of Informatics of Masaryk University (FI MU) hosted its traditional Day with Industrial Partners. The event highlighted opportunities for collaboration between the faculty, companies and students. It also demonstrated that even junior computer scientists are still in demand by companies. This year’s program featured 22 companies from the Association of Industrial Partners (SPP), including all three strategic partners: InvaSys a.s., Lexical Computing s.r.o., and Red Hat Czech, s.r.o.
“Student interest this year exceeded our expectations. I am pleased that they recognize the opportunities the Association of Industrial Partners offers them. Thanks to the synergy between the faculty and the companies, we are able to adapt our teaching so that the experience students gain is relevant in the turbulent job market,” said Vlastislav Dohnal, Vice Dean for External Relations and Partnerships at FI MU, who served as the day’s host. The program featured two blocks of short presentations in which companies attracted interested students to their booths. These booths were subsequently opened in the FI entrance hall.
The event brought together companies and students in search of opportunities for collaboration, whether through internships or thesis projects. A list of specific topics offered by industry partners is available on the SPP website. Discussions at the booths also showed that young professionals remain attractive to companies. In addition to the natural generational change, which is essential for any field, companies are looking for those who can think critically. This is confirmed, for example, by Pavel Hrdina from Oracle NetSuite, who also teaches at FI. “Even though artificial intelligence can already do quite a lot these days, it’s still quite fragile, and we need someone who understands it and can monitor it and quickly spot any errors. Even during their studies, we can simulate many real-world situations and calibrate the ‘neural networks’ in students’ minds so they can see the bigger picture,” he adds.
We thank all students for their interest, as well as the participating companies. The next SPP Day will take place on Thursday 26 November 2026.
