AI4Talents: popular event brings the world of artificial intelligence closer to secondary schools

On Friday 14 November 2025, around two hundred secondary school students and their teachers interested in artificial intelligence filled the VIDA! science center in Brno. The fourth annual AI4Talents event was jointly organized by the Faculty of Informatics of Masaryk University and the Faculty of Information Technology of Brno University of Technology. It offered lectures on AI, machine learning, and cybersecurity, as well as practical workshops with industry partners and research demonstrations. Young talents thus had the opportunity to explore new possibilities for future studies and careers in the world of algorithms.

"With the rapid development of artificial intelligence, it is a great challenge for us every year to offer a new perspective on the use of AI in teaching and research. I am glad that this year we have again managed to reach young people who are considering a future in IT. By involving companies that are part of our Association of Industrial Partners, we are also able to show the direct practical applications," said Vlastislav Dohnal, Vice-Dean for External Relations and Partnerships at FI MU.

What exactly did we present to the participants? Dr. Leonard Walletzský from the Department of Computer Systems and Communications spoke about the impact of the "AI generation" on our environment – from smart cities to leisure activities. Assoc. Prof. Vít Nováček from the Department of Machine Learning and Data Processing showed where artificial intelligence is already helping in healthcare today and how it can make life easier for cancer patients, for instance. Assoc. Prof. Pavel Rychlý from the Natural Language Processing Center addressed the question of how tools similar to ChatGPT are changing the world of education, work, and everyday communication.

The afternoon was devoted to practical activities. In the workshop organized by Newsmatics, we engaged participants in media evaluation using machine learning and large language models. At the stands of Red Hat, AT&T, Kyndryl, and NXP, they had the opportunity to meet with people from the field.

AI4Talents is part of the AI Days festival, which took place from November 3 to 16 throughout the Czech Republic. The opening ceremony was held simultaneously at planetariums in Prague and Brno, symbolically connecting the two cities under a shared virtual sky. Vít Nováček once again represented Masaryk University and the Faculty of Informatics as part of the Brno program. He presented the research of his Discovery Informatics Group, which focuses on artificial intelligence applications in the field of eHealth. He emphasized the growing role of artificial intelligence not only in research, but also in direct patient support and clinical practice.

We would like to thank all participants who joined us at AI4Talents this year to discover the power of artificial intelligence and critical thinking. Thanks also go to all the sponsors, companies, and performers who devoted their time and resources to promoting science and supporting young talent. We are already looking forward to next year!
