FI already know their outstanding teachers
Doc. Mgr. art. Helena Lukášová, ArtD., received the MU Rector's Award in the category for outstanding teachers. Doc. Lukášová works at the Department of Visual Computing at the Faculty of Informatics, MU, where she leads the Graphic Design and Multimedia Studio. In her courses, she guides students toward creative work and connecting creativity with informatics. Students learn the principles of visual creation while working on their own projects designed primarily for digital media. The teacher leads classes in 3D modeling and drawing, participates in teaching generative design, leads a lecture series on the basics of visual communication, and organizes plein air classes (week-long block classes outside Brno). Graduates of her courses appreciate the clarity of her teaching, accompanied by audiovisual study materials and other materials for self-study. Here are some of the students' comments: "Great classes – she found and encouraged creativity even in untalented students." "An amazing course, which I recommended to several friends during the semester. Thank you for broadening my horizons in visual communication."
The award category for outstanding teachers is unique in that the results can be influenced by graduates of courses taught by the teacher in question. This is the case with Associate Professor Lukášová, who received strong support from her students.
Doc. Ing. Michal Brandejs, CSc., received the MU Rector's Award for long-term outstanding teaching, which is a new category within the awards. Doc. Brandejs is the head of the Computer Systems Unit at the Faculty of Informatics and has been involved in teaching since the beginning of his academic career. He has taught at the Faculty of Science since 1986 and, after its establishment, became one of the key teachers at the Faculty of Informatics. The main focus of his teaching is on engineering subjects related to the principles of computer technology, Unix, computer network services, and web design. However, Doc. Brandejs does not only contribute to the education of students. He has significantly influenced teaching at Masaryk University as a whole thanks to his requirements and experience, which he incorporated into the design and development of the MU Information System. This system, widely recognized as the most convenient teaching support tool at universities in the Czech Republic, greatly facilitates the administration of teaching and improves its quality – not only at the Faculty of Informatics, but at all MU faculties.
The ceremony took place on September 30, 2025, on the occasion of the opening of the 2025/2026 academic year. In addition to the Rector's Awards, MU silver and gold medals were also presented and the university wine was announced.
