Why study at FI MUNI?
Study for all from the basics
The Bachelor's programmes at the Faculty of Informatics of MU do not expect you to have any initial knowledge, in the first semester we will systematically teach you the basics of the field of computer science: the fundamentals of programming, mathematical foundations of computer science, architecture of computer systems, etc. You will build on these foundations in the following semesters, among other things by progressive profiling through compulsory electives and optional subjects.
You don't have to be alone at the start of your studies: the faculty and the university organise adaptation activities for freshmen, where you will quickly find your way around the university environment and get to know your new classmates. At MU,
Freshers' Days are designed for this purpose - in two days you will get practical study tips, get acquainted with the Information System and experience a social programme. At FI, there is a long-standing tradition of the online seminar
Jump on FI with summer assignments that you can complete from home. Then in the first week of classes, the faculty hosts a preparation week with presentations, workshops and team-building activities, including a Semester Opening Party.
A safe environment is a given at MU and is assured by binding policies that reject harassment, bullying, threats, humiliation and discrimination with zero tolerance. Students may
contact the MU Ombudsperson for
assistance when they believe their rights or the rights of others have been violated and can be assured that their complaint will be handled confidentially and impartially.
If you have specific learning needs, or need support during a challenging time, Masaryk University has your back. The University-wide
Teiresias Centre ensures that admissions and studies at MU are accessible to people with sensory, physical or psychological disabilities. To take care of mental well-being, there is the
MU Counselling Centre, which offers systematic mental health support and individual psychological consultations. At the Faculty of Sports Studies, there is the
University Sports Centre, which both provides compulsory physical education for students of all faculties of Masaryk University and organises sports events for MU students and employees.
