Several tasks within NLP present opportunities for ILP
applications including word segmentation [7], derivational and
inflectional morphology [9],
syntax and semantics [10], or
text categorization [1].
In the field of morphology, LAI Ljubljana [4] applied ILP for
generating the lemma from the oblique form of nouns as well as for
generating the correct oblique form from the lemma, with average
accuracy 91.5 % .
Part-of-speech(POS) tagging is the most popular as well as the most
succesfull application field within ILP. [2]
developed POS tagger for
English that achieved per-word accuracy of 96.4 %.
[3] exhaustively
searched Wall Street Journal corpus for assiciation rules that describe
frequent properties of sentences and words. Induction of constraint
grammar rules by means of ILP is solved in [5].
