Study Check
Under the Rules for Studies and Examinations for Students in Doctoral Degree Programs of the MU the Specialist Board checks the student’s progress in fulfilling their study duties on an annual basis. In the case of a failture to fulfil the study duties the Dean can, upon the recommendation of the Specialist Board, withdraw the student from the student program.
The study check is based on the supervisor's evaluation of the student and on a study progress check following the student's individual curriculae if the individual curriculae is included in the annual study plan.
Students are informed about the results of the study check by their supervisors.
Student Evaluation by a Supervisor
Students' scientific work is annually evaluated by their supervisors and is usually based on their end-of-year reports. Supervisors submit results of their evaluations to the Specialist Board.
Evaluations must include the following information:
- achieved research and development results
- publications (the student's contribution must be specified for joint publications)
- involvement in conferences, workshops, seminars etc.
- involvement in research projects and programs
- fulfilled duties according to the Annual (Semester) Study Plan
- overall evaluation of the student in the completed study period
- presumptions for a successful continuation of the study
- evaluation of the progress in fulfilling the student's General Study Plan
- grant proposal (increase, decrease, a special grant)
The evaluation is requested to be submitted as an attachment to the form Hodnocení činnosti studenta doktorského studia, which is available either at the Office for Research and Development or in an electronic form as PDF or Postscript.
Downloading the form in LaTeX requires pgsform.sty.
Annual Study Plan
The Specialist Board is also responsible for the approval of the Annual Study Plan, which is based on the General Study Plan and specifies duties of a student for the period of two semesters, including a specification of the form of the study check.
The Annual Study Plan is structured by both the student and the supervisor on a special form, which is to be submitted for an approval to the Specialist Board. The form is available either as PDF, Postscript or LaTeX — requiring pgsform.sty. The annual study plan is requested to be structured in a manner that will facilitate the study check.Students are not requested to register for any other subjects than STPHD - Scientific Work, which is compulsory in every semester and evaluated in the form of colloquium. A student follows an individual curriculae created by a supervisor. A student is however advised to register for an Informatics Colloquium and Informatics Seminar.
In accordance with the Article 8 of the Rules for Studies and Examinations for Students in Doctoral Degree Programs of the MU students are requested to submit their dissertation thesis proposal within the deadline set by the Specialist Board. The thesis proposal must describe the intent of the dissertation (i.e. the description of the problem and methods to solve the problem), justification of the purpose of the work, expected results and the form of publication of the final results; the thesis proposal must also include a study progress report.
Students starting the second year of their study are requested to submit an application form for the state doctoral exam and a dissertation thesis proposal. This study duty is to be included in the annual study plan.
