SSME Recommended Study Plan
The following study plan is meant to help make effective choices with a view to earning the required number of credits. It specifies the sequence of required courses that is deemed to be the most effective study plan for students enrolled in the Applied Informatics – Service Science, Management, and Engineering programme. The sequence of selective courses is not specified.
The strategy is specified so as to ensure that students would have gained 120 credits by the end of the programme. In each of the first three semesters, students are advised to take three to five required courses (specified in the table below) and two selective courses. From the second semester students are advised to register for the course Diploma Thesis (code SDIPR). The thesis has to link to the courses of the chosen field of study. Students need to obtain 20 credits in total for the thesis. At the thesis registration students select a number of credits, which they wish to use towards the thesis in each semester. It is therefore possible to spread the thesis work over several semesters or complete it during one semester only. Students are awarded with a course-unit credit upon completion of the SDIPR course.
In the fourth semester students are advised to register for some elective courses needed for gaining 120 credits. Students register for the course Defence of Thesis (code SOBHA) in the semester in which they intend to defend their thesis. Students in their last semester also register for the Final State Exam (code SZMGR).
PA180 Interim Project Business or PA185 Interim Project – Research 1 can be enrolled in any semester after completing five required courses — PA116 and PA179 and PA181 and PV203 and PV207 — mentioned in 1st semester and 2nd semester.
