The solid theoretical fundamentals, built-up with the help of modern (discrete) mathematic in recent time, stay in background of present radical and very successful coming of IT into the all fields of our every day life.

The study field of Mathematical Computer Science provides necessary background for further study and scientific work in theoretical computer science, or in interdisciplinary fields involving mathematics and computer science.
This study field is primarily targeted at students who intend to continue their study on Master’s (and Ph.D.) level. Graduates of Mathematical Computer Science receive knowledge background sufficient for any master field of study in computer science, and suitable also for studies in related mathematical fields.

Tuition structure:

Within typical informatics fields as programming languages, design of algorithms, operational systems or databases and subjects with mathematical fundamental this study field is specialised on subjects lying on interface of mathematics and informatics. The concrete structure of theoretical subjects in the study field is at choice of each student.

Students of Mathematical Computer Science have excellent opportunity to be involved to the scientific research of branch of the Institute for Theoretical Computer Science, the top Czech research centre in the field of theoretical computer science, common project of the Charles University, Masaryk University, Czech Academy of Science and University of West Bohemia .
