    These websites are ideal for the revision of vocabulary that is arranged according to themes (there is a word / phrase, pronunciation and the Czech equivalent). These websites also help to practise phrasal verbs, business English, slang and false friends. Moreover, they contain interactive tests for various levels.

    This is an amazing tool for looking up information concerning various areas (e.g. food, geography, US history). The information is presented in an attractive way. Students can look up various information related to a particular theme in a text or using pictures. There are also worksheets to be printed.

  • BBCCzech – Global Issues

    There are thirty units called 'Global Issues' that deal with topics such as safety, genetically modified products and globalization which are supposed to practise the language of the news.. Each unit contains a short text accompanied by a short recording, followed by a word list (English words / phrases and the Czech equivalents).

    These websites contain a variety of quizzes, interactive tests, exercises and puzzles. The exercises are organized thematically.

    There is a Teacher´s Zone filled with ready-to-print materials such as worksheets and quizzes. The activities are organized thematically. There are interesting links such as Dolch basic words list including the 220 most frequently found in books that students read. However, it is necessary to pay $30 USD per year to use all the activities available.

    These websites are suitable for practising grammatical and lexical features of English as they deal with some common mistakes made by Czech speakers of English. They are probably based on the book "English-Czenglish" by Don Sparling. There is a list of words arranged in alphabetical order, and there are English sentences with some mistakes and a comment in Czech.

    There are short courses, quizzes, grammar, vocabulary, audio and video. There are also articles on teaching, lesson plans and practical downloadable activities. Students will particularly appreciate NEWS ENGLISH (words in the news).

  • New English File Cloze Maker

    Here you will find the tool for making cloze tests. You can use your own text by copying and pasting it into the Cloze Maker and when it is created, you can edit the text. The students can be given a list of the missing words at the top of the page, or they can be provided with a clue by having the first letter of each missing word in the blank (gapped texts with no clues are also possible).
