Learning Management Systems

  • Nicenet. A free and easy-to-use web-based tool for teachers. Ideal for finite courses and/or small classes. Click here for an article with pedagogical and practical information.
  • Moodle. Open source web-based software, Moodle seems to be becoming the international standard for e-learning. It is comprehensive, sophisticated, under continuous development and free. It is well-suited to large scale use. But it does require a system administrator.
  • Nuvvo A handsome, new LMS, with better tools than Nicenet, though fewer than Moodle. It is teacher-friendly in that no system administrator is required to run it. You can experience it here. "In this course, we study about the two coolest e-learning initiatives: Moodle and Nuvvo." Nuvvo is only free to a rather limited extent.
