A Satellite Workshop to MFCS'98

August 24-26, 1998, Brno, Czech Republic


The Aim To exchange ideas, to discuss new approaches, results, problems, focusing on theoretical issues (on mathematical foundations) of DNA Computing


Topics Any theoretical computer science direction of research on the possible use of DNA (or of other bio-molecules) as a support for computation, mathematical tools used and mathematical problems arising in this area: computing by annealing, by splicing, by insertion-deletion, etc; automata and language theory approaches, complexity, distributed computing, etc; candidate problems to be solved by DNA computing, etc.

Talks 		Invited talks will be given by Marek Karpinski (Bonn) and Andris Ambainis (Berkeley).


Paper
Submission 		Authors are invited to send one copy of an extended abstract not exceeding five pages to the PC chair. Electronic submissions in a form of unencoded postscript file are encouraged and can be sent to gpaun@imar.ro Submissions are to be received before May 25, 1998. Authors will be notified of acceptance by June 15, 1998.


Proceedings Preliminary proceedings containing the extended abstracts in the form of a technical report will be available at the workshop. No special versions of accepted papers will be required - however, authors can submit a new version of their paper if they find appropriate. The final form of the selected papers will be published in a special issue of a journal, after a peer reviewing process.
The workshop will be organised at the same place as the federated CSL/ MFCS'98 conference and care will be taken that participants of the workshop can attend invited talks of CSL/MFCS conferences.


Fees No special registration fee will be required for participants who also register for the CSL/MFCS'98 conference. A registration only for workshop will be also possible - expenses for fee, accommodation, and basic meals will be very modest.
